Storytelling, visuals, dance and original songs combine for a powerful and uplifting celebration of Indigenous culture from Aotearoa New Zealand and Te Whēnua Moemoeā (Land of the Dreamtime) Australia.
Employing strong visuals projected on screen, emotionally charged song, deeply personal storytelling and genuine raw emotions of anger, grief, sadness and joy, Reckoning leads its audience through a process of truthtelling and truth-accepting in an innovative and celebratory concert.
The themes of the show are brought to life with original costuming, symbolic staging, atmospheric lighting, inspiring lyrics in language and an utterly dance-worthy contemporary sound by Samuel Gaskin and The Merindas.
A diverse cast – featuring Samuel Gaskin, Candice Lorrae, Piri Neho, Paula Barbee and Mahana Maihi-Taniora – combine personal stories of their ancestors with original songwriting as they explore the power of connecting to their Indigenous bloodlines.
